Review of the Season

After sitting out the 1972 season, Syracuse Suns returned to play in the 1973 season.

The Wildcats captured second place in the Northeast Conference.

New York Apollo qualified for 1973 A. S. L. Playoffs as the winners of the Northeast Conference.

Baltimore Bays qualified for 1973 A. S. L. Playoffs as winners of the Mid-Atlantic Conference.

Defending ASL champions Cincinnati Comets were aligned to the Midwest Conference along with returning clubs Cleveland Stars and Detroit Mustangs. They were joined by new members Indiana (Gary) Tigers.

Cincinnati Comets and Cleveland Stars qualified for 1973 A. S. L. Playoffs. The Comets qualified as the winners of the Midwest Conference. The Cleveland Stars qualified for the playoffs via a wildcard.

New York Apollo won the 1973 ASL Championship by defeating Cincinnati Comets 1-0 after overtime in the playoff final.
